If we have other pets should we separate them during the euthanasia appointment?
Generally, most pets do not need to be separated during the euthanasia. It seems like a positive thing to have them there. But, its a good idea to have a plan about what to do if your other pet becomes disruptive.
What if my cat has been aggressive at previous vet appointments? Can I still schedule an appointment?
PLEASE do tell us if your cat has been aggressive at the vet previously. Usually, we can still schedule the in home euthanasia appointment, but we just need to prepare ahead of time. If your veterinarian has ever prescribed anti-anxiety meds to give prior to appointments, please tell us and please do give those as directed prior to the euthanasia appointment.
How long in advance do I need to contact you?
We usually have same day availability for in home euthanasia appointments. But I recommend that you schedule a day or two in advance. If you need an urgent same day in home euthanasia appointment please contact us as early as possible during the day.
I am not sure if it is time to euthanize my cat. How can I be sure that I'm not choosing euthanasia too early?
If you need help deciding if it is time for in home euthanasia, you can reach out to your regular veterinarian for an appointment to discuss options. Or, we can provide a quality of life consultation in the home. Dr. Burroughs can come to you and evaluate your pet. We know that choosing the time to euthanize a pet you love is very difficult. We can help you get an objective opinion about your pet's health. At the end, cats do tend to show fewer symptoms and then decline more suddenly than dogs.
How long is an average in home euthanasia appointment?
